Sunday, July 1st . A few impressions.
- In the Opening Prayer, the minister Reverend Greg Kennedy, prays: “Oh God, you are with us in silence and mystery…”
- There was a guest singer from the Santa Fe Opera, Zachary Nelson. His voice fills FILLS the Sanctuary and I feel something but can’t quite put my finger on it… The second time he sings, I close my eyes concentrate on what I’m actually feeling: there is a vibration that I feel on my face and in my ears. It is as if physical sound waves are rolling over me. However, the walls are too close, the room too small so when the waves hit the walls there is a backwash of sound, somewhat like an echo, but maybe more like a ripple as the sound brushes my face again now slower and quieter. It is as if the notes and the words are traveling at two different speeds and the music immerses us.
- Today is Communion Sunday, a good way to start our new year of Spiritual discoveries. We are in the first group to receive Communion, as we kneel at the rail I hear a shuffling behind me, ever so gently I feel hands resting on my shoulders they are warm and light in touch. I am aware that I am not alone in Communion and feel connected, aware, comforted and supported by this act of community love.
