…I was sitting here drinking Earl Grey tea, munching on a flourless chocolate cookie and reading my book, when I realized someone was staring at me. Looking over my book, there He was—again. “Lord,” I said, as I tried to hide my book, “don’t sneak up on me like that.” “Whatcha reading?” He asked. I begrudgingly pulled my book out. “Really?” he said “Killing Jesus?!” “Yeah, well I thought it would be a good book to read during Lent” I replied. “What’s Lent?” He said. “Stop it. You know everything, so you know what Lent is.” He leaned back, stretched out his legs, crossed his arms and looked at me over his reading glasses and gave me that ‘I’ve got all the time in the world to wait on this answer’ look. “OK, it’s when we spend more time praying, fasting or giving up something we will miss, and being penitent.” I shared. “Wow, sounds like a real downer.” “Well, we do rather look forward to Easter when you come back to life as Christ.” I said with a little too much sarcasm. “Maybe you should go get us another cup of tea and I’ll find a book for you to read.” When I came back, he showed me the book: “Oh, The Places You’ll Go!” I was speechless, my thoughts went to orphans in Africa, the dying in India…through watery eyes I sort of sheepishly sang “Here I am Lord, Is it I Lord…?” He burst out laughing. “I just thought you needed to lighten up,” He snorted a chuckle, “that’s all.”
